There is a large group of people that enjoy the nice weather in the winter in Texas. "Winter Texans" as they are called, flock to all of the Rio Grande Valley area. Many of them do make their residence in South Padre Island. It has warm and a subtropic climate. The fact that these people stay there during the off period for the summer and spring fun for the younger people, these people come in and provide a boost in the economy.
The people of South Padre Island have worked to have things for these Winter Texans to enjoy. This will help keep them coming back every year. These things keep the economy in a constant take of influx. There are also many choices of places to stay. There are condos, hotels, any number of these places that are usually all booked up throughout the spring and summer. It makes for a very relaxing time of the year.
The visitors bureau offer a few activities throughout the winter. There is a golf tournament in January. The Winter Texan Snowbird Extravaganza and the WinterTexan Adopt-A-Beach are several of the activities set up for the winter Texans to participate in.
