I' ve been to miami and loved it, is south padre island somewhat similar. Do they have lots of palm trees like in miami? or is it more like desert? And also would you recommend it? Where would be a good place to kick it on south padre island, that's some what similar to miami?

noseeums are like sand flies that bite;cannot see them but they are vicious & cause unbearable bites that itch terribly

My friends and I are looking for a pretty cheap SB destination to go to, None of us are 21-And im just wondering where would be the easiest place to drink with no problem, i figure South padre because i heard alot people just go across the boarder at night to party in Mexico. Any ideas? We would drive reguardless;so im leaning towards Texas since Florida is about 24 hrs from wisconsin....

Two friends and I plan on going down to South Padre Island, TX for spring break for about a week. Where are the best places to stay? Any other input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Im going to be moving from Oahu to the South Padre Island area here soon because I just graduated college and it is too expensive to buy a house on Oahu, lol. I am a beach bum however and need to be close to the beach. Ive been in the area before since I grew up in the midwest and I speak a little spanish which should help out a great deal being so close to the border. My question is, should I live on the actual Island or should I live in say Port Isabel or by Laguna beach? I know the hurricane season can be crazy over there and was just wanting to hear from someone who has experience living there what I should do or some pros and cons of living on the island. I already know they have spring break there once a year for the college students and I actually think that is a lot of fun. Thanks everyone

Hotels/Condos Open in South Padre Island For August 16 through 17,2008

I'm wondering if anyone near these areas know of any bus routes or trains that will take me from Fort Worth/Dallas area to South Padre Island or close to it (Brownsville etc.)
