In South Padre Island one of the most exciting attractions is the abundance of places to scuba or Snorkel. There are also many schools that will teach you how to do these things. It has been a hot spot for these activities for quite some time. Why not? The shelf creates a great depth of water and there are sunken ships and reefs and a great abuncance of fishery in the gulf.

American diving has grown in popularity. It has changed from just being in commercial ships to the sporting community. Commercial ways of diving have been brought into the picture with the new sporting ways of diving. The mixed gas style of diving has gone from just the commercial diving to sport diving. For training you need a qualified instructor. This is necessary for the great adventures that await you in diving.

From September twelfth to September 21st is Dive Week in South Padre. It is the second anual dive week. There are even discount drive trips around the Texas Clipper. There is a photo contest and first place gets a trip to a resourt on the island.
